Moderation and the audit log

Deleting messages, time-outs, kicks and bans; what the audit log shows, and tips for keeping your server tidy.

To keep your server tidy, TEBHOS has basic moderation tools and an audit log that records every management action. You need a role with the relevant permissions to use them (see Roles and permissions).

Moderation actions

Right-click a member’s name (long-press on mobile) to:

  • Delete message — removes a rule-breaking message. The message’s attachments are deleted with it.
  • Time out — prevents the member from sending messages and speaking in voice channels for a set period. The restriction lifts on its own when the time is up.
  • Kick — removes the member from the server; they can return with a new invite.
  • Ban — removes the member and prevents them from rejoining. You can also bulk-delete the member’s recent messages if you wish. Bans can be lifted under Server Settings → Bans.

In voice channels you can also server-mute or server-deafen a member, or move them to another channel.

The audit log

Server Settings → Audit Log is the list of management actions taken in the server: channel and role changes, invites, kicks and bans, message deletions, server-settings changes. Each entry shows who did what, and when. Entries can be filtered by user or by action type.

The audit log keeps moderators’ actions transparent: “who did this?” for a wrong ban or a deleted channel is answered here.

Recommendations

  • Keep new members’ permissions to attach files and use @everyone limited.
  • Make the rules visible with a pinned message or a dedicated channel.
  • Give moderators only the permissions they need; use the Administrator permission sparingly.
  • For a serious violation (illegal content, harassment, child safety), do not stop at an in-server action; report it to us too: Reporting content.

Members who want to appeal a moderation decision should first talk to the server’s admins; the TEBHOS team only steps into a server’s internal decisions when the Community Guidelines are violated.
